Singer Returns to “X-Men”

Singer Returns to “X-Men”

December 17, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 3 Comments

Add another movie project to director Bryan Singer’s ever-growing list.

Singer let the news slip that he’s signed on to direct the upcoming “X-Men Origins: First Class.”  Singer disclosed the news in an interview with Ustream earlier this week.

However, Singer did not reveal which characters might return for the movie or if he’d use the actors previously used in the franchise or cast new actors in the roles.

Very little is known about the project at this time.  Producer Lauren Shuler Donner has been very tight-lipped about the project, except to say that it would take place “way before” the original “X-Men” movie.

No word yet on whether a script is final or when production might begin.  A lot of it may depend on the Oscar-nominated Singer’s directing schedule.

If it truly is the “First Class” then it would include the following:

Ice Man, Cyclops, The Beast and The Angel. These were the original four X-Men.

Since we’ve seen these already, I’d expect only to see 1 or 2 of them to be in this incarnation.
